Taking Risks

I remember one time in class our teacher asked us “Has anyone ever tried peanut butter pie?” Everyone in class replied with the same answer in unison. “No.” As if on cue, our teacher said, “Exactly!” He paused for a moment and continued, “Nobody ever tries the peanut butter pie. And you’ll never know if you’re missing out on it because you’ve never given it a chance.”

I often use the peanut butter pie thing on a lot of my friends who tell me that the stuff I like to do is weird, so that way I can just be like “HAH!” Anyways, after hearing this, it really stuck with me. Life is a gamble and about taking risks. If you play it safe forever, then you’re never going to experience living. You’ll miss out on so much, that’s why you must try the peanut butter pie. Worst case scenario is that you don’t enjoy it, but hey! At least you’re able to say that you gave it a shot. This makes me think of Flame Princess and Finn.

Flame Princess obviously being made out of fire makes having a relationship with Finn complicated. Finn has also only been chasing after Princess Bubblegum for the long time, so Flame Princess is the peanut butter pie. Going into the relationship with Flame, Finn knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, but he still took the chance. That’s one of the things that I like about this show. It shows that taking risks can lead to discovery of something wonderful.
